Thank You Salt Lake. 2011 SLC tattoo convention started off 2011 with a bang!

I was real skeptical about doing this convention. I never really heard anything about it, maybe because its  not in my area, but it surprised me. Brought some of the crew out there and had to rep for the Pacific Island Community. We also had some Killer Mexican Food, Red Iguanas, it was pretty good...funny taxi rides, and beer that was just a thirst quencher, no buzz of that beer. I had heard about the beer in Utah but we had to try it...Yup, no buzz off a six or 12 pack? oh well, we then shot over to the bar downstairs and had some shots...Off to the next convention, ill keep you posted...

Rooted art show

We at Cukui and Humble Beginnings always push forward the core values of community and friendship in all we do. For this month’s art gallery we are making this a special night to help out a friend and talented tattoo artist, Steve Looney. Having been diagnosed with liver disease five years ago Steve has been fighting this hindrance every step of the way, not allowing it to stop him from living a full life. Just last year his liver started to fail and Steve had to undergo a liver transplant on August 30th 2009. Though Steve’s life was spared he and his family are still dealing with the financial issues that come with such operations. Cukui, Humble Beginnings Tattoo, and Steve’s friends have all pulled their talents to showcase art for his cause. Steve will also be in attendance so you will be able to hear his story first hand. 80% of the proceeds from the artwork sold from this show will go to Steve. Lets be generous!


So come on out and bring your friends and family for a night of culture, community, and great people. And also come out and enjoy all the other art showcases going around the area. Japantown is poppin’.

• Martial Arts: Kendo, sword demonstrations, karate, aikido, judo
• FanimeCon: Anime screenings in two rooms (content determined by age group), MAID CAFE - Akihabara style!
• Car Exhibition: Including imports, classics, bikes and more
• New Attractions: Beer Garden, Treatbot (Karaoke Ice Cream Truck) and Japantown Idol
• Silent Auction: There will be many wonderful items available in the silent auction. The end times for the various sections of the auctions will be 1PM, 3PM and 4:30 PM. Come by and bid early and often!
